GOODFUND GOES ON CHRISTMAS SPENDING SPREE
GoodFund, the charity lottery organiser, has entered into the festive spirit by handing out £11,060 to local charities before Christmas.
GoodFund distributes money to charities across the North East, which it receives as a percentage of lottery subscriptions from the Postcode Lottery.
At the weekend, GoodFund surprised the third permanent beneficiary, Children North East, who was fundraising at
the Victorian Market in North Shields, with a cheque for £2,212.
Manuela Wendler, executive manager for GoodFund, said: “Charities have to work hard to raise the funds
they need to provide vital support to the most vulnerable. Thanks to our lottery players, we can provide local
charities with a regular and growing income stream.”
The proceeds from the Postcode Lottery’s first four monthly draws raised £2,212 to Children North East.
With weekly draws starting later this month and an increasing number of players, GoodFund anticipates
this to raise significantly in future months.
Catrina Flynn, Children North East, added: “We are absolutely delighted to receive this donation from GoodFund,
which helps us support many community-based projects.
”Children North East work with children, young people and their families to help them through times
of disadvantage and to enable them to go on and reach their full potential.
“Each year our projects support over 7000 local people and we can only do this with the help and support
of individuals and organisations such as GoodFund and the Postcode Lottery. I would like to thank everyone
involved in this donation and we hope that the Postcode Lottery continues to grow, thus enabling much more money to
be raised for local worthwhile causes.”
Other permanent beneficiaries in the region that also receive regular money include Make A Child Smile,
Groundwork, Just For Kids and the Sunshine Fund. The National Missing Persons Helpline is the only national charity
receiving funds from the North East Postcode Lottery.
