The
Dutch Postcode Lottery gives €210m to People & Nature
At its annual Good Money Gala, the Nationale Postcode Loterij
announced another record year for charity lottery subscriptions
in the Netherlands.
In 2005 the Nationale Postcode Loterij achieved a turnover
of €419.8m (around £287.7m), an increase of 6.7%
to the previous year.
The Nationale Postcode Loterij’s 50 permanent beneficiaries
received cheques worth a total of €210m (around £143.9m).
The money was distributed in the following charity sectors:
Development Cooperation: €80m (ca. £54.8m)
Nature & Environment: €90m (ca. 61.7m)
Human Rights: €40m (ca. 27.4m)
In 2005 the Clinton Foundation became the 50th permanent
beneficiary of the Nationale Postcode Loterij. Founded in
2001 by US ex-president Bill Clinton, the Clinton Foundation
works on initiatives in the US and the developing world, including
the much praised HIV/AIDS Initiative.
The Nationale Postcode Loterij made also €16.3m available
- one euro for each person in the Netherlands - to launch
a new initiative addressing climate change. This brings together
45 of the charity lottery’s permanent beneficiaries.
This unique partnership announces its plans on 3 February
2006. See also the new website www.hier.nu for further details.
Founded in 1989, the Nationale Postcode Loterij has raised
millions of pounds for its 50 beneficiaries. They include
international and national charities, such as Oxfam, Unicef,
WorldWildlifeFund, Red Cross, Amnesty International, Greenpeace,
Save the Children, FreeVoice, War Child, Stop Aids Now, Nelson
