GOODFUND BECOMES A RAY OF SUNSHINE
North East charity, the Evening Chronicle Sunshine Fund, has received an early Christmas present from GoodFund, thanks to the Postcode Lottery players.
GoodFund presented children and staff with a cheque for £2,212 at Percy Hedley Secondary School, at Killingworth, Newcastle upon Tyne.
The school, which caters for children with cerebral palsy and communication difficulties, is just one of the projects that benefits from
the Evening Chronicle Sunshine Fund.
The Evening Chronicle Sunshine Fund is one of six permanent beneficiaries in the region.
This month, they have received a total of £11,060 of the proceeds from the Postcode Lottery.
Manuela Wendler, executive manager for GoodFund, said: “The Evening Chronicle Sunshine Fund helps
the Percy Hedley Secondary School to provide specialist sporting and fitness training equipment for children with disabilities.
Thanks to the Postcode Lottery players, we can now support their work with additional regular funding.
“The charity has received its first cheque for £2,212 and it is the first of many to come.
With an increase of players and the Postcode Lottery draws going weekly, the money given to charities can only rise.”
The Evening Chronicle Sunshine Fund is a charity which aims to improve the quality of life for disabled children
across the region by providing essential equipment and learning aids which would otherwise be too expensive to buy.
It provides grants to a number of local organisations such as the Percy Hedley School and is a permanent beneficiary of GoodFund.
It will receive regular money raised through the ticket sales of the new North East Postcode Lottery.
